I don't think I will ever understand why the right finds Palin appealing. Didn't they get enough folksy charm from Bush for the last eight years?

The crazy part is that if you look at her debate performances from the Alaska gubernatorial race, she didn't do any of that. She was poised, prepared, and capable of speaking directly to the issues.
But that's for an important job, not being a heartbeat away from the Oval Office.
The same thing happened with Bush. In his debates for governor of Texas he was reasonably articulate. It's like they think they have to be dumb to win with the Republican base nationally.
